About This Kit

3KG

Yield: Up to 1.2-1.4kg in 3 flushes

Our 3 kg kits are made fresh to order, just like real mushroom farms use. No fancy box, no sitting in cold storage for weeks. Skipping the packaging keeps your cost down by $10, and we pass that saving straight to you. We call these kits “almost ready to fruit”.

Lead time applies to this kit. The lead time shown above the “Add to Cart” button is the time needed to prepare your order. A product showing as “in stock” means it can be prepared within that lead time, not that it is ready to ship immediately.

What’s Inside
Everything you need is included. Just spray water and follow the simple instructions.
Our substrate is a special Master’s Mix: a blend of sawdust, lupin pellets and water, inoculated with about 300g of millet grain spawn to give your mushrooms the best possible start.

Microplastic Free

Soy Allergen Free

Gluten Free

Our bags: Your kit is made with Unicorn grow bags, tested to not leach microplastics into your substrate.

Lion’s Mane Claw Heat Tolerant: Why It’s Special
This heat tolerant strain of Lion’s Mane has been selected to fruit at higher temperatures than typical strains, making it more forgiving in warmer climates. Some suppliers claim it has been fruited above 30°C. In warmer conditions its form often shifts towards more robust, claw-like or pom-pom clusters.

Culinary and Medicinal
Lion’s Mane is prized for its mild, seafood-like flavour and rich texture, often compared to lobster or crab. It is also known for its neurotrophic compounds (hericenones and erinacines), which are being studied for supporting nerve growth, cognition and nervous system health.

Shelf life: Fresh Lion’s Mane is best used immediately for the best texture, or refrigerated for 3–7 days.

Growing Conditions
Humidity: 90–95% during pinning and fruiting. A humidifier or frequent misting helps.
Light: Indirect, diffuse light (400–1,200 lux). Avoid direct sunlight.
Air: Moderate fresh air exchange to prevent CO₂ buildup, without strong drafts that dry the surface.
Temperature: 18°C–32°C.

More Than One Harvest?
Yes. You can often get 2–3 flushes with proper rest and hydration between flushes. Later flushes usually yield less than the first.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
Overheating: Even though this is a heat tolerant strain, higher temperatures can stress the mycelium, reduce yields or cause malformed fruit. Keep temperatures as low as possible.
Low humidity: Lion’s Mane teeth are especially vulnerable to drying. Too little humidity leads to short, stubby growth or aborted pins.
Poor fresh air exchange: Without enough CO₂ removal, growth becomes fuzzy or stretched. Too much airflow dries the surface.

What if pins form inside the bag?
Don’t worry. Ignore the internal pins. Gently fold the top of the bag to push out excess air, cut a small X in the side of the bag where you want the mushrooms to grow, and begin misting that spot daily. Mushrooms will start fruiting from that cut, and the internal pins will be naturally aborted as they don’t have space to grow.

⚠️ Spore Warning
All mushrooms produce spores as part of their natural growth cycle. Some people may be sensitive or allergic to spores, so be mindful of where you grow them. Harvesting on time will help you avoid heavy sporulation.

Checkout out our fine Misting Spray Bottle to produce tiny droplets and keep humidity high. The size of droplets formed can easily be evaporated, and this constant evaporation signals mycelium to pin.
