Description
These are the exact birch wood sticks we use in our own lab slants at Rootlab. Now available as a standalone pack so you can prepare your own slants with your preferred agar formula.
Adding hardwood to agar slants keeps mycelium metabolically active during long-term cold storage, prevents enzyme blindness, and conditions the culture to the hardwood substrate it will eventually fruit on. Particularly well suited to species like Lion’s Mane, Shiitake, Oyster, and Reishi, though they can be used for non-wood-decomposing species too.
Each stick is sized to fit standard 50ml borosilicate reagent bottles. Simply place one stick into your prepared slant bottle.
Pack of 50 sticks – ready to use straight from the pack.
These are supplied dry and unsterilised, ready for you to autoclave with your slant bottles as part of your standard prep workflow.
Tips:
Autoclave together with your slant bottles and agar at 121ยฐC for 20 to 30 minutes.
One stick per 50ml slant bottle is sufficient.
Compatible with all standard agar formulas including MEA, PDA, PDYPA, and grain-based agars.
