About this 3kg Kit
Complete Kit: Everything you need is included, just spray water and follow the simple instructions.
This kit uses a special Master’s Mix, a blend of sawdust, soy pellets, and water. It’s inoculated with about 300 grams of rye or millet grain spawn to give your mushrooms the best start.
We keep things simple and affordable by sending you a fresh, made-to-order bag, just like real mushroom farms use. No fancy boxes, no sitting in cold storage for weeks. This helps keep your cost down by $10; we pass that saving directly to you. We call these kits ‘almost ready to fruit’.
The Princess of Pearl – Pleurotus ostreatus(a.k.a. Princess Pearl) is a vigorous, high-yielding commercial strain of pearl oyster. It produces dense, creamy-white clusters with a mild, buttery flavor and tender bite—ideal for sautés, pastas, and soups. It colonizes quickly and fruits well on straw or hardwood sawdust/Master’s Mix, making it beginner-friendly yet productive enough for small commercial setups.
Humidity: Maintain ~85–90% RH; mist 2–3× daily to keep the cut surface moist.
Light: Indirect light helps cap development; avoid direct sun.
Air: Ensure gentle fresh-air exchange to prevent long stems/small caps.
Princess of Pearl Oyster Grow Kit – Dense, Buttery Clusters
The Princess strain is selected for fast colonisation and resilient fruiting across a broad band of cool-to-moderate temperatures. Princess of Pearl mushroom has the best pinset formation. Expect compact, neatly layered caps and thick stems that cook to a savory, buttery finish. For substrates, this strain performs on pasteurised straw or supplemented hardwood (Master’s Mix). Colonisation Temperature around 21–24 °C, Fruiting between 12–29 °C.
IMPORTANT— Keep humidity steady and ensure gentle airflow; Princess will reward you with dense canopies and repeat flushes.
Need to Wait?
If you’re not ready to start fruiting after full colonisation, you can store the bag in the fridge for up to a month . Do not store it in the fridge until the bag is fully colonised(white).
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Low Humidity: Leads to aborted pins and cracked caps — keep the cut surface moist.
High CO₂: Causes long stems and tiny caps — increase gentle airflow.
Direct Sun/Heat: Dries the block and deforms caps — use indirect light.
Under-supplemented Substrate: Reduces yield — Princess performs best on straw or supplemented hardwood mixes.
What to do if pins form inside the bag
Don’t worry. Just ignore the internal pins. Gently fold the top of the bag to push out excess air, cut a small “X” in the side of the bag (where you want the mushrooms to grow), and begin misting that spot daily. Mushrooms will start fruiting from that cut. The internal pins will eventually be aborted naturally, as they don’t have space to grow.
Checkout out our fine Misting Spray Bottle to produce tiny droplets and keep humidity high. The size of droplets formed can easily be evaporated , this constant evaporation signals mycelium to pin.
