Our substrate is a special Master’s Mix: a blend of sawdust and lupin hulls, inoculated with 300g of millet grain spawn to give your mushrooms the best possible start.

Our bags: We use Unicorn grow bags, made in the USA. Unicorn is the only grow bag in the world independently tested by Eurofins (a third party lab in Europe) and certified to EN 1186 and USFDA 1520 standards for plastic migration into substrate. Tested at 121°C for 3.5 hours. No other PP or PE bag manufacturer has achieved this food safety standard.
About Princess of Pearl Oyster Mushrooms
The Princess of Pearl is a vigorous, high-yielding commercial strain of pearl oyster mushroom. It produces dense, creamy-white clusters with a mild, buttery flavour and tender bite — ideal for sautés, pastas, and soups. This strain is known for exceptional pinset formation, meaning it reliably produces large, dense flushes even in beginner conditions. It colonises quickly and fruits across a broad range of cool to moderate temperatures, making it one of the most versatile and forgiving strains available. Beginner-friendly yet productive enough for small commercial setups.
Shelf life: Once fully colonised, the block can be stored in the fridge for up to one month if you are not ready to fruit it straight away. Do not refrigerate until the bag is fully colonised (completely white).
Growing Conditions
Humidity: 85–90%. Mist 2–3 times daily to keep the cut surface moist.
Light: Indirect light helps cap development — avoid direct sunlight.
Air: Gentle fresh air exchange to prevent long stems and small caps.
Temperature: 12°C–29°C fruiting. Colonisation ideally at 21–24°C.
More Than One Harvest?
Yes. Expect 2–3 flushes. After each harvest, remove all remaining fruit bodies, allow the block to rest 3–4 days, then soak in cold water for 2–3 hours before resuming misting.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Low humidity: Leads to aborted pins and cracked caps — keep the cut surface moist at all times.
High CO₂: Causes long stems and tiny caps — increase gentle airflow.
Direct sun or heat: Dries the block and deforms caps — use indirect light only.
What if pins form inside the bag?
Don’t worry. Ignore the internal pins. Gently fold the top of the bag to push out excess air, cut a small X in the side of the bag where you want the mushrooms to grow, and begin misting that spot daily. The internal pins will be naturally aborted as they don’t have space to grow.

⚠️ Spore Warning
All mushrooms produce spores as part of their natural growth cycle. Some people may be sensitive or allergic to spores, so be mindful of where you grow them. Harvesting earlier — as the caps begin to flatten — will help you avoid heavy sporulation.
