For Mycology:
Direction: To make 500 ml of liquid to fill agar Petri dishes, use 10 gms of agar-agar powder along with other sugars and nutrition of your choice.
For plant tissue culture:
Solidifying agents like Agar play a vital role in tissue culture media, providing essential support for the optimal growth and development of plants when incorporated into the medium. Additionally, the inclusion of solidifying agents helps ensure the even distribution of nutrients, hormones, and other crucial elements throughout the culture medium.
Add 6-10 gms (depending on desired density) of agar and other ingredients to 1000ml of water. Adjust to desired Ph of around 5.4-5.8; Autoclave at 15psi, 121ยฐC for 20 minutes.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture.
