When it comes to growing mushrooms, nothing beats our 70% Isopropyl alcohol as a disinfectant. The 70% solution is more effective at killing germs than a 90% or higher solution because it evaporates more slowly. If alcohol evaporates too quickly, it won’t have time to kill germs by penetrating their cell walls. Mycologists and mushroom farmers can confidently use the 70% solution because it is gentler than more substantial concentrations on the skin.
